Two dogs killed in Sunday fire

Metro Wire Staff

Two dogs perished in a Sunday night fire in the Town of Carson.

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office reports that emergency crews were called to the 1100 block of 3rd Ave. South when a caller reported a structure fire.

Deputies found two camper trailers and one utility trailer fully engulfed when they arrived on the scene at 9:14 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Sheriff Mike Lukas said the Rudolph Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames quickly. But all three trailers sustain heavy damage and two dogs were killed in the blaze.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined but it does not appear to be suspicious, Lukas said, but the RFD is assisting the sheriff’s office with the investigation.
