Two men have been arrested following a two-vehicle collision on May 15.

Sheriff Mike Lukas said two Portage Co. men, ages 36 and 31, crashed their motorcycles that night while traveling on West River Dr. near Blue Heron Ln.

The 36-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the side of the road, Lukas said. The second motorcyclist passed him but soon lost control and hit a tree.

Both men received “significant injuries,” Lukas said.

The 31-year-old man was airlifted to a trauma center and was later arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, failure to maintain control of a vehicle, and operating after revocation.

The 36-year-old man was transported by ambulance and arrested for operating while intoxicated, third offense, operating without a valid license, speeding, and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

Rudolph Emergency Medical Responders, the Stevens Point Fire Department, Aspirus Medevac, and the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.
