Turn your woods into a deer destination, with help from the DNR

Metro Wire Staff

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is offering resources for residents who are interested in managing wildlife habitats on their property.

The DNR’s Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday, with current DMAP landowners and DNR experts on hand for a conversation on turning a backyard, or other private lands, into a destination for deer and other wildlife.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask experts questions about DMAP and habitat management for deer and other wildlife species.

The event is open to the public, but space is limited. You must pre-register here to reserve your seat.

More information on joining DMAP is also available on the DNR website. Applications are accepted year-round, but if anyone wishes to enroll 160 acres or more, they must apply by March 1 to qualify for a site visit in 2022.

The virtual conversation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Pre-register here to join via Zoom.
