Traffic delays on Hwy. 66 begin Monday
By Patrick Lynn
Construction crews will begin replacing a westbound bridge deck near Hilltop Pub and Grill on Monday.
The work is part of a $583,962 contract since by Gov. Tony Evers to improve State Highway 66 between Country Club Dr. and Ridge Rd. in Stevens Point.
Zenith Tech. Inc., is the prime contractor for the project, which replaces the bridge deck on the westbound bridge over the Plover River.
According to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, motorists on Hwy. 66 can expect a traffic shift to the eastbound lanes, with a maximum lane width of 11 feet within the project limits. One lane in each direction will be maintained during construction.
The speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph during construction.
Motorists should expect congestion and delays during peak travel times and are encouraged to find alternate routes.
Construction is scheduled for completion by September 2019, depending on the weather.
