Metro Wire Staff

PLOVER — Traffic patterns will change in the village of Plover as part of the County Hwy. B beginning on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 a.m.

Highway Commissioner Nathan Check said the project will require a full closure of Hwy. B from Wisconsin Ave. to Hoover Ave., with the roadway set to reopen by 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The intersection of County Hwy. B and Hoover Ave. will remain open throughout the closure.

During the closure, alternate business access routes have been coordinated with surrounding properties, check said. A detour utilizing Interstate 39 and State Hwy. 54 remains in place to assist motorists navigating the area.

The Portage County Highway Department has scheduled a business owner meeting for Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the Highway Department office, 800 Plover Rd. The meeting will provide updates on the project schedule, access for vehicles and pedestrians, and construction sequencing. A follow-up meeting is planned for Oct. 30 at the same location and time.

Check encourages drivers to reduce their speed and avoid distractions when traveling through work zones for the safety of both workers and motorists.
