Three free summer planetarium shows remain in June

STEVENS POINT — The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will offer a series of free summer planetarium shows throughout June, taking visitors on an astronomical journey through the cosmos.

Held at the Allen F. Blocher Planetarium, the presentations begin at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Each program includes a 25-minute guided tour of the current night sky over central Wisconsin, highlighting stars, constellations, and planets. Shows are about an hour long and open to the public, with donations welcomed to support future programming.

Scheduled presentations include:

  • Monday, June 23Mysteries of Your Brain: A kid-friendly animated show exploring what makes the human brain unique. (Recommended for ages 5–12 and families.)
  • Wednesday, June 25The Cosmic Spectrograph: A look at spectroscopy and how scientists study space through light.

  • Monday, June 30The Zodiac: The Moon, The Sun, and the Path of the Planets: A journey across the constellations of the zodiac.

Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a capacity of 55. Groups of eight or more may request a private showing by calling 715-346-2208 or submitting an online request form. A fee applies to special showings.

The planetarium is located on the second floor of the UW-Stevens Point Science Building at 2001 Fourth Ave. Parking is free in all university lots after 7 p.m. and on weekends, with Lot D located behind the building.

Public stargazing sessions at the Pejsa Observatory will resume in mid-September.
