Thomas John Shippy, 69
Thomas John Shippy, age 69, went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 5, 2022, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born in Stevens Point on June 16, 1953, the son of Vernon and Ester (Cychosz) Shippy. He attended local schools in Stevens Point and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1972.
On June 17, 1978, Tom married the love of his life, Carol Seeger, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Tom worked as a maintenance mechanic for McCain Foods for 39 years until his retirement in 2018.
Following retirement, Tom used his God-given talents to help others by doing mechanical work, handyman projects, and renovations; proudly remodeling three homes. He also enjoyed traveling, garage sales, and volunteering at Destiny Point and other organizations. Tom’s biggest treasure was his family; he loved spending time with his wife Carol, children, and grandchildren.
In everything he did, Tom made God a priority. He passionately spread the word of God when given the opportunity with his compassionate and positive demeanor. Even cancer couldn’t take away his spiritual energy. His positivity was contagious regardless of his hard-fought battle.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carol Shippy; four children, Kelly Shippy, Amy (Kyle) Corrigan, Matthew Shippy, and David Shippy; and two grandchildren, Jaxson and Evelyn Corrigan. He is further survived by his two sisters, Barb (Lee) Shemanski and Joan Cutler, and brother, Paul Shippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Community Church, 3516 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Friends and family may gather to share memories from 9:30 until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
