State Senator Patrick Testin has conceded in the six-way contest for lieutenant governor.
Testin made the announcement at about 10:08 p.m., with about 70 percent of Wisconsin’s precincts reporting results in the Aug. 9 partisan primary.
With only three of Portage County’s 42 precincts reporting at that time, statewide, Testin was trailing Roger Roth for the partisan race for lieutenant governor 126,023 to 67,061, respectively.
The other four candidates:
Cindy Werner (R) 52,261
Jonathan Wichmann (R) 51,242
Will Martin (R) 37,927
Kyle Yudes (R) 19,015
Testin released the following statement:
“Over the last 10 months, I have had the incredible chance to criss-cross Wisconsin and meet so many new friends. While the results tonight are not what we hoped for, I am fired up and ready to fight through November to ensure Wisconsin retires Tony Evers and we sweep in a new slate of Republican leaders for our state. After four years of Tony Evers’ failures, everyone knows the Badger State is on the wrong track. Starting tomorrow, we will be a unified Republican Party of Wisconsin and get to work to re-elect Sen. Ron Johnson and retire Tony Evers once and for all. It’s time that we take power out of the hands of Madison bureaucrats and Tony Evers’ special interest friends, and put Wisconsinites back in charge of our way ‘Forward.'”
