Talk to explore the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald at Portage County Library

STEVENS POINT – The Portage County Public Library will host a presentation this month marking the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
The event will be held at 4 p.m. on Nov. 12 at the downtown Stevens Point Branch, 1001 Main St.
Steve Ackerman, emeritus professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, will discuss the tragic sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, which went down during a violent storm on Lake Superior on Nov. 10, 1975.
His talk will cover the ship’s history, the weather conditions surrounding the wreck, and the popular Gordon Lightfoot song inspired by the tragedy.
The event is part of the Badger Talks speaker series and is free to attend. No registration is required.
