Taco John’s will open by year’s end

Potato Olés will hit Academy Ave. by the end of 2019.

Construction on the new location of Taco John’s will begin sometime in mid-September, according to Brett Itterman from Pentex Restaurants. Itterman also owns the Taco John’s in Wisconsin Rapids.

In an email to the Metro Wire, Itterman said he expects the new restaurant, 1616 Academy Ave., to open by the end of the year. The restaurant will be opposite of a new Burger King restaurant that opened in July.

Itterman said the restaurant should employ about 30 people.

The city council approved the restaurant’s plans in late 2018, after several months of debate over new setback requirements along the Division St. North corridor.
