‘Swing Fling’ to offer jazz music, dancing at UWSP

Enjoy jazz and swing tunes while learning how to swing dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s “Swing Fling” this month.
The event will be held from 7:30-10:30 PM on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Dreyfus University Laird Room. The UW-Stevens Point Jazz Ensemble will perform, with dancing taught by members of the National Dance Education student organization. Refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be available.
Performances will include “Don’t Be That Way” by Benny Goodman, “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If it Ain’t Got That Swing)” by Duke Ellington, “A Tisket, A Tasket” by Ella Fitzgerald, “Desafinado” and “Girl from Ipanema” by Jobim, “I Get a Kick Out of You” by Frank Sinatra and more.
Admission at the door is $8 for adults or $5 with a student I.D. for adults. Proceeds will benefit jazz student scholarships.
“Swing Fling” is sponsored by the Department of Music and hosted by Delta Omicron, a music student organization.
