Suspects arrested, ID’d in Tuesday’s Carson murder

TOWN OF CARSON — Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas said two people are in custody following a murder in the Town of Carson on Tuesday.
Lukas made the announcement at the county’s Public Safety Committee meeting on Wednesday morning. The Metro Wire has confirmed the suspects are 46-year-old Sara Pientka and Lyndon Bane Hood, 61.
The two will see a judge for bond on Thursday.
The Portage County Communications Center received a report at 10:57 a.m. of a 57-year-old woman in distress suffering from severe traumatic injuries on the 1700 block of County Road M.
Deputies, along with EMS, responded to the home, where the victim was pronounced dead shortly after emergency crews arrived.
The victim was identified as Jeanette Pientka of Carson.
Earlier Tuesday, Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas told the Metro Wire the victim had “visible traumatic injuries” and investigators were treating the death as a homicide.
The investigation is being led by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.
No arrests have been made, and investigators have not identified a suspect.
Earlier Tuesday, Lukas said investigators did not yet know who was responsible and declined to say the public was not at risk because the investigation was still in its early stages.
“We don’t know who the suspect is,” Lukas said. “There was visible trauma. It was not a witnessed event, so we do not know who the suspect is.”

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office, Portage County Ambulance, Stevens Point Police Department, Rudolph Fire/EMS and the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory.
