A Stevens Point man is being held on a $10,000 cash bond after allegedly creating a disturbance in Plover on Wednesday.

Kerry Kluck, 65, appeared for what was his eighth bond hearing since May on Thursday. He made his hearing by video from the Portage Co. Jail before Court Commissioner Melissa Dalkert.

According to the incident report, Plover police were called to Springville Sports Grill, 2911 Plover Springs Dr., at about 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 3 when an employee reported an unwanted person in the establishment.

The caller identified the person as Kerry Kluck. En route, officers learned Kluck had numerous open felony cases with bond conditions prohibiting him from being on the premises of any business that sold alcohol.

The caller also told dispatchers that Kluck was being rude to other customers and displayed a pocket knife, the report said.

When officers arrived, they found Kluck sitting at the bar with a glass of beer. They escorted him outside where he was searched, and found the knife in his front right pocket. He was taken into custody for violating his bond. Officers inventoried Kluck’s bicycle so he could retrieve it when he was sober, according to the report.

Kluck appeared intoxicated but refused to take a preliminary breath test.

“He had a very strong odor of an intoxicating beverage on his breath. His eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred. He continuously stared at officers as if he was confused. As he was talking, his thoughts wandered frequently and he repeated himself,” the report said, adding that Kluck was verbally uncooperative and called the officers names.

Arresting officers requested 10 counts of felony bail-jumping with the Portage Co. District Attorney’s Office. According to court records, Kluck was arrested three times in July on minor charges of disorderly conduct, but each came with an additional 10 counts of felony bail jumping. He was last released from jail on a $1,500 cash bond on July 15.

Dalkert ordered a $10,000 cash bond with conditions that Kluck does not possess any dangerous weapons, has no contact with the victims, maintains absolute sobriety, and follows all other open bond conditions.
