STEVENS POINT — A Madison Elementary student brought a knife to school on Friday and showed it to a few classmates, according to Principal Karl Bancker.

No injuries were reported, and the incident was resolved quickly.

“Our staff responded immediately and followed all appropriate safety protocols,” Bancker said in a statement. “The student involved will be disciplined in accordance with school board policy.”

District officials did not specify the type of knife or how it was discovered but said the student did not threaten others.

Bancker encouraged families to reach out with any concerns and noted that the school counselor is available for students who may need additional support.

“The safety of our students is always our top priority,” he said.
