Still 20 spots open for Concealed Carry Weapons class at PCSO

STEVENS POINT — The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office will hold a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) class on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Portage County Annex, Rooms 1 and 2.
The class, taught by certified Department of Justice Firearm Instructors, is the official course developed for CCW permit applications. The fee is $50 per student.
In the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a Basic Handgun Course will be offered at the Portage County Law Enforcement Range, located at 3001 Willow Springs Drive, Town of Dewey. This course is open to those who attend the morning CCW class.
Topics will include shooting stance, grip, sight picture, loading, unloading, malfunctions, and firing. Participants are required to bring a firearm and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition. The cost for both the CCW and Basic Handgun Course is $75 per student.
