Stevens Point Women’s Club honors fallen at Plover Cemetery

PLOVER – Members of the Stevens Point Women’s Club joined community members on Dec. 14 to honor the nation’s fallen heroes by laying wreaths at Plover Cemetery as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.

The event, which included nine club members, served to remember those who have served and sacrificed. National Wreaths Across America Day is an annual event held to honor veterans through coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies at cemeteries nationwide.

The GFWC-Stevens Point Women’s Club, founded in 1895, is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international volunteer service organization established in 1890. The Wisconsin chapter joined the federation in 1896 and has since united local clubs in community improvement efforts.

Locally, the Stevens Point club has supported initiatives such as Pediatric Jump Bags, Jaws of Life equipment, Foster Care programs, and enhancements to community spaces like Seramur Park, Schmeeckle Reserve, and KASH Park.
