Stevens Point schools to host Black History Month celebration

STEVENS POINT — The Stevens Point Area Public School District will host a Black History Month celebration on Feb. 19, featuring Marc Young and Emmitt James at the Ben Franklin Auditorium.
Young, a recent MBA graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will serve as the event’s chief celebrant speaker. Currently the executive director in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Young was named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s 2025 “40 under 40” list. He will share his insights and perspectives on leadership and community.
James, a versatile artist blending hip-hop, jazz, and spoken word, will bring his soulful music and thought-provoking performances to the event. Known for defying traditional artistic boundaries, James offers a unique fusion of styles that highlight creativity and expression.
The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is designed to inspire through meaningful dialogue, entertainment, and reflection. It is free and open to the public.
