Stevens Point ranked in top 10% of best small cities in the country

Stevens Point has been ranked in the top 10 percent of the “Best Small Cities in America” list as created by WalletHub.

The personal finance website compared more than 1,200 cities in the country with a population between 25,000 and 100,000 across 43 metrics. Indicators studied ranged from housing costs and school-system quality to restaurants per capita and the number of COVID-19 cases in the last seven days.

The study awarded points related to crime statistics, shopping and restaurant offerings, health data, insurance information, median income, homeownership, and population and job growth.

Stevens Point ranked 38th in average weekly work hours; 195th in percent of adults in fair or poor health; 248th in crime rate; 359th in housing costs; 377th in percent of population carrying insurance; 547th in average COVID-19 cases (per 100,000) in the last seven days; and 604th in income growth.
