The Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has honored Oliver Lind as the September Youth of the Month.

Lind is a sixth grad student at Washington Elementary. He is the son of Ben and Nyra Lind.

Oliver was nominated by his teacher because of “his positive attitude and for his hard work”, according to a press release from the Optimist Club.

“He is an optimistic student not only in the classroom but in the school community. He is always smiling, brings joy to the classroom daily, and is willing to work with any of his classmates and they enjoy working with him,” the release reads in part.

Oliver plays football, basketball, baseball, golfing, and curling.

“He is always ready to greet you in the morning with a smiling face,” said teacher Trish Hagstrom. “Oliver is a role model for other students in his class and at Washington School.”

The Stevens Point Noon Optimist Club has been honoring local youth through Youth Appreciation for many years. Youth Appreciation is the most popular program sponsored by clubs throughout Optimist International, with more than 2,000 clubs participating each year.
