Stevens Point makes ‘Best small cities’ list

Metro Wire Staff

Stevens Point has been named on a list of the best small cities in America.

The city was ranked in the 82nd percentile in a study of over 1,300 cities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000. Stevens Point was recognized for affordability, economics, education, health, and safety.

The study, conducted by the personal finance website WalletHub, focused on housing costs, homeownership rates, poverty rates, income growth, graduation rates in high school and college, the average length of the workweek, restaurants and coffee shops per capita, and crime rates.

The study also showed that growth in cities larger than 100,000 has slowed, with an increase in suburbanization, due in part to COVID-19 fears.
