STEVENS POINT — Families can enjoy a free outdoor movie, food trucks, and an evening along the Wisconsin River next week as the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau continues its 40th anniversary celebration.
The bureau will host a Movie in the Park event at Pfiffner Pioneer Park on Tuesday, June 9. Food and refreshments will be available beginning at 5 p.m., with a showing of “Zootopia 2” scheduled to start at about 6:15 p.m.
Several local vendors are expected to attend, including UWSP Stevie’s Food Truck, COWS (Curds of Wisconsin) Truck, Purple Basil, and King Cone.
Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for an evening outdoors with family and friends.
“We are excited to continue our 40th Anniversary celebration by bringing families together for a fun, free community event,” said Jodi Maguire, executive director of the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Movie in the Park is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of our beautiful community spaces, support local vendors, and create lasting memories with family and friends.”
Admission is free and open to the public.
The event is one of several planned this year as the bureau marks four decades of promoting tourism and supporting economic development throughout Portage County.
The Stevens Point Area CVB also credited the City of Stevens Point, Spectrum Insurance Group, and Associated Bank for helping sponsor the event.
The bureau works to attract conventions, sporting events, and leisure travelers to Portage County, generating visitor spending that supports local businesses and jobs.
