Stevens Point Airshow called off due to COVID-19

On the growing list of spring- and summertime cancellations thanks to coronavirus, residents can now add the Stevens Point Airshow.

Scheduled for June 7, the biannual event included seven aerobatic performances, an emergency vehicle and airplane display, helicopter rides, food, and more.

The cancellation was forced under Gov. Tony Evers’ three-phase Badger Bounceback plan announced last week. The plan calls for reopening businesses and public events in phases to avoid cluster outbreaks of COVID-19. Large public events won’t resume until the plan’s third phase, which has no set timetable.

The popular event drew thousands to the Stevens Point Municipal Airport every other summer.

It was not immediately clear if the 2020 event would be rescheduled, or if it would return on its usual schedule in two years.
