SPPD looking for hit-and-run suspect

The Stevens Point Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating a hit-and-run suspect.

A female motorist was struck by another car on Saturday night at 9:21 p.m. near the intersection of Michigan Ave. and Jefferson St. According to Lt. Greg Bean, the woman did not require medical attention.

The suspect vehicle left the scene traveling westbound on Jefferson St. then turned south in the area of either Illinois Ave. or Fremont St.

A witness at the scene described the vehicle as an “older, light-colored SUV, possibly a Lincoln Navigator” with a Wisconsin disabled license plate. The offending vehicle would likely have “significant damage” on the front passenger side, he added.
