Metro Wire Staff

The Stevens Point Police Department has announced the upcoming release of a convicted sex offender.

Eleazar Rodriguez, 66, from Plover, will be released to a halfway house at 1504 Water St. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, according to a Monday news release from SPPD.

Rodriguez is 5’4” and 214 pounds with greying black hair and brown eyes.

Rodriguez was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child in September 2020 and was sentenced by Portage Co. Circuit Court Judge Thomas Flugaur to 18 months in state prison followed by 60 months of extended supervision.

In 2019, Rodriguez touched over and under the clothing of a 14-year-old female acquaintance, touching her breasts, buttocks, and genitals. He also climbed into the girl’s bed and made him touch his penis. He also threatened the girl not to tell anyone.

The Portage Co. District Attorney’s Office also filed a charge of intimidating a victim. That charge was dismissed but read-in for sentencing.

Rodriguez was also previously convicted of third-degree sexual assault in May 1999.

Upon release from prison, Rodriguez will be placed on supervision with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and monitored by probation agents with the Division of Community Corrections in Portage Co. He is also subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.

Rodriguez has additional conditions to not have any unsupervised contact with minors, have no contact with the victims, and not to consume drugs, to comply with the standard sex offender rules, and to cooperate with electronic monitoring. He is also required to have face-to-face contact with law enforcement and comply with all requirements and lifetime registrant of Wisconsin sex offender registry.

Rodriguez’s current address, and any change of address, will be updated and available online by accessing the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry at https://appsdoc.wi.gov/public.
