The Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra has announced its 73rd season of holiday concerts, held this year on Dec. 11 and 12.

Holidays with CWSO: Featuring Danny Mitchell, will be held at Woodlands Church, 190 Hoover Ave. in Plover. Pre-concert discussions with Dr. Andy Moran will be held at 6:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. show, on Dec. 11. The Dec. 12 show will begin at 4 p.m., with a pre-concert discussion scheduled at 3 p.m.

Under Moran’s direction, Stevens Point native Danny Mitchell will present a program of holiday favorites with his own arrangements. Since moving to Nashville in 2008, Mitchell has worked steadily as a freelance musician. He currently is the bandleader and keyboard player for multi-platinum recording artist Miranda Lambert. He last performed with the CWSO in December of 2017.

Also featured in the concert will be SPASH high school senior Olivia Yang, winner of the Betty Frost Jenkins Young Artist Concerto Competition. She will be performing Lalo’s Cello Concerto accompanied by the orchestra.

Yang has been playing cello since she was two years old. She currently studies with CWSO co-principal cellist, Lawrence Leviton.

Tickets are available online at cwso.org, at the CWSO office, located in the Smith Scarabocchio Art Museum, 800 Main Street, or at the door the day of the show.
