SPASH softball team punches ticket to state

STEVENS POINT — The SPASH softball team is headed to Madison after punching its ticket to the WIAA State Softball Tournament.

The Panthers will open Division 1 state tournament play against Appleton North in a quarterfinal matchup at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Goodman Diamond on the campus of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

SPASH is one of eight teams remaining in the Division 1 field and will compete for a chance to advance to the state semifinals later in the week.

The WIAA State Softball Tournament runs June 10-13, with all games played at Goodman Diamond. Tournament officials note that game times are approximate and may change depending on the length of earlier contests.

Fans planning to attend should purchase tickets in advance through GoFan at https://gofan.co/app/school/WIAAWI?activity=Softball. Tickets must be redeemed on a mobile device, and no cash sales will be available at the venue. Single-session tickets are $11, while all-day passes with reentry privileges are $25. Championship session tickets are $9. Children 2 and younger are admitted free.

Tournament programs will be available for $5 at the stadium or may be purchased online ahead of time.

Spectator parking will be available in Lots 60 and 76, including the nearby parking ramp, for $10. Parking includes no reentry privileges. Parking will be free on Saturday. Accessible parking spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lot 60, and a drop-off area for guests with disabilities will be located along Willow Drive near the stadium entrance.

The winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal will advance in the Division 1 state tournament bracket as the Panthers look to bring home a state championship.
