SPASH softball splits doubleheader against Onalaska

It was jacket weather at Woyak Park on Monday, with the Panthers softball team splitting a doubleheader against Onalaska.
In the first game, SPASH had the lead 6-2 at the end of the sixth inning, but a big Onalaska seventh inning of seven runs was enough to turn the game in the visitor’s favor with a final score of 9-6. SPASH quickly bounced back and got their bats rolling in the second game to defeat Onalaska with a commanding 19-3 victory.
Game 1
Sam Saloun hit a solo home run in the first inning to put SPASH on the board. The Panthers had a four-run third inning with Berkley Lake, Leah Earnest, and Jaden Jones driving RBIs.
Earnest and Sam Saloun lead SPASH in hits both going 2-for-4. Earnest lead in RBIs with two.
Jones started in the circle for Stevens Point going six innings, striking out seven, no walks and nine hits. Kristin Richter took the loss for SPASH with Zoey Fink pitching the final inning with two strikeouts and one hit.
Kraus earned the win for Onalaska.
Game 2
In the second game, SPASH tallied 18 hits compared to Onalaska’s six. Several players lead the team with two hits each: Soloun, Fink, Meg Miklish, Jenna Eilers, Kayla Lass, Avery Drohner, and Ashley Schrank. Soloun and Fink led in RBIs with four apiece.
Fink was the winning pitcher going four innings with two strikeouts, five hits, two runs, and one walk. Richter pitched in relief.
Smith took the loss in the circle for Onalaska.
The Lady Panthers are set to travel to Wisconsin Rapids for a 4:30 p.m. game on Thursday.
