SPASH shuts out Wausau West in five innings

PLOVER — Stevens Point Area Senior High stayed hot Thursday, rolling to a 10-0 win over Wausau West in five innings at Memorial Park.

SPASH broke the game open with a five-run third inning and added four more in the fifth to seal the Wisconsin Valley Conference victory.

Joe Schiszik earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit over four innings while striking out six and walking two. He did not allow a run.

Jonathan Trelka led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

SPASH scored in three of its five at-bats, finishing with five hits, while Wausau West managed three hits and committed two errors.

With the win, SPASH improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Panthers are scheduled to play at Marshfield on Tuesday, April 21.

Saturday’s scheduled games against Watertown have been postponed to May 16 due to expected weather conditions.
