WESTON – Stevens Point Area Senior High was blanked in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener Tuesday, falling 6-0 to D.C. Everest.
Panthers goalkeeper Fred Juliani made 10 saves as SPASH was outshot 16-5.
“They have a good team and we struggled to match their physicality and pace of play, and when it came to finishing, they were just clinical,” head coach Bill Loss said. “That said, we made some adjustments at halftime that allowed us to better compete. We will learn from this experience and be better for it in the long run.”
The loss dropped SPASH to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Valley.
The Panthers return to action Saturday when they host La Crosse Central at 7:30 p.m. at Goerke Field.
