By Robert Whitmire

Staff, students, and alumni of SPASH are gearing up for Homecoming 2019.

The week-long festivities kick off Monday, Oct, 7, and wrap up with the semi-formal dance Saturday in the fieldhouse at 8 p.m. The theme for this year’s events is “Fairytales”.

In addition to daily activities sponsored by the student senate, the Panther Pro Shop will offer a 10 percent discount on all school store merchandise during the week.

Members of sophomore, junior, and senior classes will take part in the annual window decorating contest from 3-8 p.m. on Monday.

Mr. SPASH 2019 will be crowned following a historically spirited competition Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the fieldhouse. Tickets for the event will be sold in the South Office between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Panther Marching Band will kick off the homecoming parade on Friday afternoon at 12:15. The parade route begins at Washington school and moves west down Prais St. turning south Minnesota Ave. to Goerke field where an all-school pep assembly will take place.

The homecoming court will be introduced and the queen will be crowned at the assembly along with a special recognition of Ma and Pa Homecoming. Senior girls, looking to defend their 2018 victory, will square off with the juniors at the Powder Puff football game and fall sports teams will be recognized during the afternoon’s activities.

The Panther football team takes on Wausau West Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
