SPASH girls golf takes fifth at Trapp River tournament

MERRILL – The Stevens Point Area Senior High girls golf team finished fifth in the third leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament Series, held Sept. 9 at Trapp River Golf Course.
SPASH posted a team score of 208 in the varsity division. Junior Jenna Barber led the way with a 43, good for second place individually. Rounding out the Panthers’ scoring were Alexis Wagner with a 52, Karlie Kostuchowski with a 55, Maddie Anderson with a 58, and Vanessa Hatfield with a 59.
In the varsity team standings, DC Everest won with a 194, followed by Wisconsin Rapids (195), Marshfield (200), Wausau (200), SPASH (208), and Adams-Friendship (215).
SPASH’s junior varsity squad captured first place overall with a team score of 217. Sydney Pfannes and Katelyn Pagel each carded a 51, Lydia Kort added a 54, Mae Helgeson shot 61, and Holly Hammon finished with 62.
The tournament featured a 9-hole, individual stroke-play format and included both varsity and JV competitors.
