SPASH edges Wisconsin Rapids 4-3 at Bukolt Park

STEVENS POINT — Stevens Point Area Senior High scored a run in the seventh inning to break a tie and defeat Wisconsin Rapids 4-3 on Thursday at Bukolt Park.

The teams were tied 3-3 entering the final inning. Jonathan Trelka delivered a two-out RBI single in the seventh to provide the game-winning run.

SPASH totaled nine hits, while Wisconsin Rapids had five. Neither team committed an error.

Royce Lown earned the win in relief, pitching two innings without allowing a hit or a run, while walking two and striking out two. Joe Schiszik pitched five innings for SPASH, allowing five hits and three runs, all earned, with two walks and two strikeouts.

At the plate, Trelka finished 1 for 3. Brayden Marsch hit a double, Calvin Roth went 2 for 2, and Gavin Thiel went 2 for 3.

SPASH improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

SPASH is scheduled to play Holmen at 10 a.m. Saturday and Eau Claire Memorial at approximately 3 p.m. at Bukolt Park.
