STEVENS POINT — The SPASH boys soccer team fell 2-0 to Eau Claire Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 26, despite an even number of shots on goal.
Both teams finished with nine shots on goal, but the Panthers were unable to capitalize on their opportunities while Memorial made the most of its chances.
SPASH goalkeeper Fred Juliani recorded seven saves.
“We started the game a bit conservative, which was by design,” SPASH coach Bill Loss said. “We made some adjustments at halftime to generate more of an attack and we had success in creating scoring chances. There were three really good opportunities but unfortunately we were unable to score.”
The loss moved SPASH to 6-4-1 on the season.
The Panthers return to action Tuesday when they travel to D.C. Everest for a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup.
