SPASH baseball splits Saturday doubleheader at Ziggy Park

CENTRAL WISCONSIN– The SPASH Panthers split a pair of nonconference games Saturday, falling in extra innings to DeForest before bouncing back with a win over Appleton West.

In game one, SPASH lost 5-4 in nine innings at Ziggy Park. DeForest jumped to an early lead with three runs in the first inning and added another in the fourth. SPASH rallied with four runs in the sixth to tie the game, but DeForest plated the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Adam Noskowiak (0-1) took the loss, pitching three innings in relief and allowing one unearned run on one hit with one walk and one strikeout. Joe Shiszik worked four scoreless innings, striking out seven and allowing just two hits. Zach Biechler threw one inning, giving up three earned runs on four hits.

SPASH had six hits and committed three errors. DeForest tallied seven hits.

In the second game, the Panthers defeated Appleton West 7-3, scoring four runs in the fifth inning to pull away.

Darren Grabski earned the win, throwing four innings and giving up one unearned run on four hits while striking out three. Owen Mansavage and Willie Washington each pitched in relief, combining for three innings and allowing two earned runs.

SPASH finished with eight hits. Leading hitters included Kason Saeger with a double, Adam Noskowiak with a triple, and Calvin Roth going 2-for-4 at the plate.

SPASH improved to 2-1 on the season.
