SPASH baseball cruises to a 6-0 shutout win over Wausau East

The SPASH baseball team faced off against Wausau East at Bukolt Park on Tuesday claiming a 6-0 shutout win.

One key to their win was the performance by starting pitcher Reese Gaber who went the first four innings with no hits. Several players contributed offensively for SPASH. Catcher Logan Schulfer opened up scoring in the first inning on a fielder’s choice hit that allowed Austin Beyer to score.

In the second inning, Austin Beyer hit a fly ball fielder’s choice to bring Barrett Brooks across the plate. Mason King hit a sacrifice fly into center field that allowed Brett Ehr to score in the 4th. Both Brett Ehr and Brady Franz contributed RBIs in the 5th.

The Panthers produced six hits for the game with Brady Franz going 2-for-3. Brett Ehr, Cade Konczal, Tristan Aldrich and Dayne Hoyord all added one hit each. Ehr led the team in RBIs with two.

Reese Gaber notched the win on the mound going five innings with one hit, five strikeouts and two walks. Dylan Davis threw two innings to close the game for SPASH with two hits and two strikeouts.

Jacob Thome took the loss for Wausau East.

The Panthers are 3-1 in the WVC and 5-3 overall. Their next game is on the road at Wausau East this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
