SPA adds party lights to the downtown

The city’s streets crew lent a hand on Tuesday for the installation of some downtown party lights.
Troy Hojnacki, president of the Stevens Point Alliance, a downtown business owner’s association, said the night lights will add some ambiance to the Mathias Mitchell Public Square. The light strings cost SPA about $1,000, he said, and utilize all-weather bulbs.
The lights were activated on Aug. 25.
Hojnacki said the idea came out of the SPA’s weekly Notes at Night event, which schedules live outdoor music on the square each Wednesday night.
“Eventually, as funding allows, we’d like to have the lights strung up all down Main Street,” Hojnacki said.
