So long, MPO Larry Pingel

The Stevens Point Fire Department said goodbye to longtime Motor Pump Operator Larry Pingel on Jan. 10.

Pingel, who has been successful at avoiding the cameras virtually anytime the press has been present, has worked his last shift, retiring after 26 years on the job.

Dispatchers at the Portage Co. Communications Center announced his last page at 6:45 a.m. on Monday.

“His capable and dependable service for the Stevens Point Fire Department will be greatly missed. We wish you the best,” the announcement said.
