Skyward wins Plover VFW golf scramble

For the Metro Wire

Skyward dominated the course to win the Plover VFW’s 14th Annual Mike Helgert Memorial Golf Scramble on Sept. 8.

The winning team was awarded an artillery shell-styled traveling trophy in a ceremony at VFW Post 10262. Team members’ names will be engraved upon the trophy and include, from left, Don Cisewski, Bernie King, Alex Molski, and Ernie “Bubba” King.

The team also received a round of golf for four with carts from Wisconsin River Golf Club and each member received a dozen golf balls.

Twenty-five teams participated in the fundraising scramble, which kicked off at noon under sunny skies at the Wisconsin River Golf Club. The event also featured a banquet dinner, door prizes, and basket raffles afterward at the Post.

Funds raised will be used for local area veteran needs, community support, and ongoing support of the Fisher House, a “home away from home” for military and veterans’ families when a loved one is hospitalized at Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
