Ski hills at Standing Rocks opens for holiday season

The ski hills at Standing Rocks Park will open Dec. 26, according to the Portage Co. Parks Department.

Downhill skiing will be available daily through Jan. 1, with tows in operation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Jan. 2, hours will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends only for the remainder of snow season.

Standing Rocks is home to two beginner hills, one intermediate hill, and two expert hills, with the longest run about 1,200 feet and the steepest vertical drop about 125 feet.

Hot concessions will be sold in the ski lodge, which has two large fireplaces and indoor bathroom facilities.

Passes are $16 for a daily adult pass and $13 for children ages 9-18. Skiers ages 8 and younger are free.

Standing Rocks is also home to snowshoe and mountain biking trails. For more information contact the Portage Co. Parks Department at 714-346-1433.

The 524-acre park is located about seven miles east of Stevens Point at 7695 Standing Rocks Rd. in Amherst.
