Two local credit unions have come together to provide a large donation to United Way organizations in two counties.

Simplicity Credit Union on Tuesday announced it had partnered with CoVantage Credit Union to donate a total of $25,000 to the United Ways serving their membership area.

Donations to the Marshfield Area United Way and United Way of Portage County will be designated to help in the COVID-19 relief efforts already underway through those organizations, according to a news release from Simplicity.

“We believe strongly in the spirit of giving that our friends at the United Way represent,” said Ben Bauer, Simplicity’s vice president of marketing. “We trust them to use this donation to meet the most important needs in our communities, and we’re grateful for the cooperation of our fellow credit union believers at CoVantage for helping make this even more impactful.”

Both Simplicity and CoVantage have a “long and robust history of community support including monetary donations, event sponsorships, and staff volunteering,” the news release said.
