Shuda supports Camp HOPE for kids, families

A game of golf has yielded a large donation for a local camp that serves children in mourning.
After participating in an annual fundraising golf tournament at Indian Head Golf Course in Mosinee for the past decade, Dean Shuda, owner of Shuda Funeral Services, chose Matthews Children Foundation as the recipient of funds raised.
Shuda said he nominated Camp HOPE to Mathews for a Children’s Foundation Scholarship.
With Shuda’s participation in the fundraiser, Matthews would receive a $1,000 grant, but Shuda decided to match the grant dollar-for-dollar, raising the total donation to $2,000.
Camp HOPE, located in Amherst, hosts weekend getaways for children and families who are grieving following the death of a loved one.
The weekends are filled with fun events, like fishing, swimming, and boating, with guidance on navigating the grief process. The camp events are offered free of charge thanks to donations.
Shuda Funeral Servies has been operating since 1967 and has locations in Stevens Point and Plover.
