Shirley Irene Leach (née Sullivan), 98

We are sad to announce the passing of Shirley Irene Leach (née Sullivan) of Stevens Point (Park Ridge), Wis.

Shirley was born in Dearborn, Mich. on Dec. 23, 1924, and died at the age of 98 on April 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family having lived a joy filled life.

She married the late George Robert Leach on April 11, 1945, to whom she was married 77 years. She was preceded in death by her mother Olga, father Joseph, sisters Courtney and Eileen, brother Jack and daughter Deb.

She is survived by her daughter Kathi (Mike), son Bob (Katie), son-in-law Bill Myers, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was a long term member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was an active volunteer in community clubs and events over the years, and USO hostess in Detroit, Mich. during WWII. She also helped manage and organize her husband’s optometric practice.

She and her husband had a passion for travel in the U.S., Europe, around the world. She was an enthusiastic golfer, hiker, and skier.
