Sheriff’s office ID’s victims in fatal Friday motorcycle accident

Two people are were killed in a motorcycle crash reported by passersby on Friday morning.

A passing pedestrian came upon the motorcycle at 7:19 a.m. on Aug. 20. According to a news release from Portage Co. Sheriff Mike Lukas, the motorcycle was traveling south on West River Dr. W. and Blue Heron Dr. when it failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a tree.

The occupants of the motorcycle were identified on Monday as 52-year old Dennis Willfahrt and 49-year old Jueline Willfahrt, both from the Town of Linwood. Both were ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

West River Dr. W. was closed between Rocky Run Dr. and Blue Heron Dr. for almost two-and-a-half hours. 

The Portage County Ambulance, Rudolph Fire Department, Rudolph Emergency Medical Responders, Stevens Point Fire Department, Portage County Medical Examiner’s Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol all responded to the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Technical Reconstruction Unit.
