Metro Wire Staff

One man is dead following a single-vehicle collision in the Town of Hull on Sunday.

The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office was called to Jordan Rd., just west of Ed’s Dr., at 3:44 p.m. on Oct. 10 when a caller reported a pickup truck hit a tree.

The driver of the 2014 Chevrolet, 24-year-old Carson Makuski, of Stevens Point, was traveling east on Jordan Rd., when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the north end of the road, striking a tree. Makuski was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated before he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 27-year-old Kelsey Studinski, also of Stevens Point, received minor injuries in the crash. She was transported by ambulance for treatment at St. Michael’s Hospital and later released.

The crash remains under investigation, according to Sheriff Mike Lukas. Deputies on the scene were assisted by Portage County Ambulance service, Hull Emergency Medical Responders, Hull Fire and Rescue, and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office.
