Rep. Katrina Shankland has been awarded the 2018 Legislator of the Year by the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin.

Shankland was awarded the designation at the 82nd annual PFFW Convention, which began June 10 in Madison.

In response, Rep. Shankland released the following statement:

“I’m honored to be named Legislator of the Year by the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin, and I appreciate everything they do to advocate for policies that improve the safety of our communities through fire and emergency response services.

“I’ve enjoyed working closely with the PFFW on legislation to create a Community Paramedic and EMS program, which will increase healthcare access across the state. The PFFW was an integral partner in crafting this legislation, which was enacted into law last November, and I look forward to continuing to work together to improve the program and support public safety and health in the future.”
