Sex offender released Tuesday in Stevens Point

A Stevens Point sex offender will be released back into the community on June 2.
Michael Rowton, 44, will be living in Stevens Point after serving 18 years behind bars. Rowton was convicted in 2002 of two counts of child enticement—sexual contact.
Rowton will be placed on supervision with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, according to a news release from the Stevens Point Police Department, and monitored by sex offender agent specialists with the Division of Community Corrections. He is subject to lifetime GPS monitoring.
Rowton is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. He is prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with minors, is not allowed to be in taverns, bars, or liquor stores, and is prohibited from consuming alcohol or drugs.
