Seramur Family Foundation makes big donation to Emerson Park

The Seramur Family Foundation has awarded a grant of $160,000 to install a playground at Emerson Park.

The Friends of Emerson Park held a private groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 29 for the new playground. According to a news release from the ‘Friends’ group, the grant will cover equipment, installation, design, and concrete.

Members of the Foundation, Stevens Point Parks Director Dan Kremer, and UWSP Chancellor and honorary chair of the Emerson Park Revitalization Project, Dr. Thomas Gibson, were also present.

Installation of the playground equipment the week of November 7, according to the news release. Concrete will be poured, and a multi-use athletic court will be installed, in the spring of 2023. A plaque naming the park for the Seramur Family Foundation Playground will also be installed at that time.

The group also raised a new Emerson Park flag at Clark St. and East Ave.

The Seramur Family Foundation was established in 1995 by John C. Seramur. Attending on behalf of the Foundation were Brenda (née Seramur) Thompson and Alissa J. Thompson.
