STEVENS POINT — Sentry Insurance is investing in updates at its former headquarters at 1421 Strongs Ave. as part of a broader, multi-year renovation initiative at the company’s main campus.

The downtown building, which served as Sentry’s headquarters from 1922 to 1977, is temporarily housing part of the company’s Customer Service and Operations team while renovations are underway at the main office, according to Carolyn A. Schamberger, Sentry’s director of corporate communications and content.

To support the transition, Sentry has made general interior updates to the Strongs Avenue site and is performing preventative maintenance and exterior improvements.

“Given the building’s age—now more than 100 years old—it’s the right time to invest in preserving its structure and appearance,” Schamberger said.

Scaffolding has been placed around much of the building’s façade to allow crews to safely complete the work, which is expected to continue through October.

Schamberger declined to disclose the project’s cost but said the updates align with a larger initiative at Sentry’s main headquarters aimed at improving comfort, efficiency, and functionality for employees.

That project includes energy-efficient lighting and windows, along with flexible workspaces designed for both focus and collaboration, she added.
