The public is invited to attend the ‘Fall into the Woods’ celebration planned for Sept. 22 at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park.
Five new pieces will be debuted in the park at 900 North Second St. in Stevens Point.
The Fall into the Park celebration will be held 5-7 p.m. and is free for the public to attend. Attendees will have a chance to meet the artists, listen to live music and poetry readings, take a guided tour, enjoy interactive art as well as donated food and beverages from local businesses, and a bonfire, weather permitting. The event will occur rain or shine.
New work debuting in the park this year includes Peter Krsko of Wonewoc, Wisconsin— ‘Cohesion/Tension #2’, Samantha Parker Salazar of Hilliard, Ohio—‘Shock Absorber’, Amanda Langer of Helenville, Wisconsin—‘Fabricated’, and Matthias Neumann of Brooklyn, New York—‘Basics #27’.
The summer also brought the return of the beloved bench to the park, by Jacob Brault of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin—‘A Sand County Bench’.
The sixth piece titled ‘Impressions of Point’, is a community-sourced sculptural fence which will include cast artwork created by five community organizations under the direction of lead artist Keith Kaziak.
The project brings together a diverse group of community representatives in a creative enterprise that reveals their impressions of Stevens Point. Castings were created by people from the Polish Heritage Awareness Society, Boys & Girls Club of Portage County, Hmong Uplift, Point Area Bicycle Service and Ignite Young Professionals.
Representatives from the Stevens Point Sculpture Park as well as numerous artists will be available for interviews during the event. Artists, with work on display in the park, planning to attend the meet and greet are; Peter Krisko, Amanda Langer, Keith Kaziak, Mike Godell, and Stuart Morris.
The Stevens Point Sculpture Park is all volunteer run, and is only possible with the help of private donors and grants through the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin and the Stevens Point Tourism Commission.
