Schmeeckle Reserve to host free nature programs in December

STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Schmeeckle Reserve invites the public to explore the natural world through a series of free, family-friendly programs this fall.
The programs are led by natural resources students specializing in environmental education and interpretation.
All programs begin at the Menzel Pavilion, located near Schmeeckle’s Visitor Center at 2419 North Point Drive, unless otherwise noted. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather.
Upcoming events include:
- Winter Bird Watching – Monday, Dec. 9, 6-7 p.m., Visitor Center – Meet some of Schmeeckle’s winter birds, learn their songs, and locate them in the wild.
- A Frozen Lake’s Winter Wonderland – Friday, Dec. 13, 10-11 a.m., Lake Joanis – Observe how ice affects lake wildlife.
